The Pixelated Picture Guessing Game Inspired by popular web games such as Wordle, Lookdle entertains with a new angle – guess the pixelated celebrity in 5 attempts. After a failed guess, the image becomes clearer, in theory making it easier. Each day there is a new famous face picked from a roster of thousands, from popular TV series, movies, and the music industry.
The app has been developed by lifelong friends & multi-media fans, Carl and Lee from Bury, Manchester, UK. Carl conjured up the idea and then tasked Lee to build it in his spare time, away from his hectic work schedule as a developer. Within a day a rough build was created and shared amongst friends, who all became suddenly quite obsessed. Over the following weeks, it has been refined into a more user-friendly web app with score tracking, archive play, and bios of celebrities.
It has gained attention on social media and a growing regular daily player base, with over 100,000 players across the globe and counting. Plans are afoot to create country-specific versions, expand game modes, and span different subject matters such as sport, art, and prominent figures from history.
